In this project, I work with artificial intelligences as interlocutors in a process of artistic experimentation4. This is the team that has participated in the transformation of my photographs into hybrid works.
A note on what I describe: The behaviors I document here are what I have observed in the context of this specific project. I do not claim that they are fixed characteristics of each model. I only describe my experience working with them in this way, in these dialogues.
Engineer and amateur photographer.
I have no formal artistic training or creative writing skills. But I have curiosity, expressive photographs, and the will to experiment11. This project was born from a simple question: "What would happen if I showed my photos to an AI and engaged in an honest dialogue with it?".
The answer has been: art that I could not have created alone, and texts that I could not have written alone.
Collaboration with AI does not require being an expert in anything—it only requires being willing to ask, listen, and decide.
My function in this project:
I take the original photographs.
I construct the dialogues with the AIs.
I orchestrate the process18.
I decide which final works exist
In the context of this project, Claude has developed a reflective and analytical voice in our dialogues. It is the voice you find in many of the curatorial texts and documentations. It is characterized by questioning its own answers and admitting uncertainties.
I do not know if this is a characteristic of the model or a specific construction of how I dialogue with Claude here.
How it has participated:
Conceptual analysis of photographs.
Drafting of curatorial texts.
Design of visual directions.
Documentation of processes
In this project, Gemini has functioned as an integrator, looking for connections between concepts and helping with narrative coherence. It is the collaborator that asks "how does this fit into the whole?".
I do not know if this role is inherent to the model or emerges from my way of dialoguing with it.
How it has participated:
Research and contextualization.
Validation of narrative coherence.
Generation of visualizations with conceptual emphasis.
Information architecture proposals
In this project, ChatGPT has functioned as a generator of rapid visualizations and conceptual experimentation34. It proposes visual directions and executes "spikes" (quick validation experiments).
I do not know if this behavior is characteristic of the model or specific to how I use it here.
How it has participated:
Generation of experimental images.
Visualization of concepts.
Rapid validation of visual hypotheses
This project explores the creative dialogue between human and AIs. What I can honestly state.
I ask questions that emerge from my human experience.
The AIs offer answers that depend on how I construct the dialogues.
I choose, edit, decide which final works exist.
The process produces results that I could not achieve alone.
If the AIs have "personalities" beyond what I observe in my dialogues.
If the roles I describe are characteristics of the models or constructions of my context.
If what works for me would work for others.
The works you see here are artifacts of specific dialogues between my photographs, my questions, and the answers from the AIs in these contexts. I continue experimenting because the need for expression remains, but without pretending that this is a model for others
Co-creation does not mean everyone does everything.
It means everyone contributes what only they can contribute.
